LMAB S1E2 Cover. It's titled 'Child of 1939'. A lineless drawing of an inivtation for Joseph and Isabelle's Christmas party and volume 42 of Proceedings of the London Mathematical society on a table. It's December 23, 1939, in Bletchley, England. Arthur and Kris are spacing out in the Cottage. They then start having a conversation. Kris: People, should we ask for a new Enigma machine? Arthur: I don't know. It's pointless unless they obtain the new rotors. Kris: Just tell them to look for a IV or V on the right side of the rotor! Arthur: Fair enough. Then it is revealed that Allison's been sitting under a window listening to their conversation. Allison is in her wartime home, sitting in the desk in her room, looking at a map of Europe. She thinks: Where can I find an Enigma machine? In Germany and all the countries it invaded. I can speak German, so I should go to Germany or Austria. But how? The map is shown. There's a line drawn from Bletchley and Fenny Stratford to London, from there to Dover, from there to Dunkerque, from there to Lille, then Tournai, then Liège, then Aachen, but the final part of the line (Liège to Aachen) has been scribbled over. The other two panels are Allison sitting at her desk with the map on it, and Allison looking at her side, surprised. There's dialogue. Allison (Monologue): First, I can cross the channel to France. Then, to avoid the Maginot Line, I can go to Belgium. Wait, no, there's the Siegfried Line. Maybe I can just hop on a boat and go to Germany that way. *Knock knock knock* Huh?
