DecolonizePalestine has a page named "Rainbow washing" in which there are colored stripes on top of each other representing each one of the "washing"s Israel does, and you click on one of them and you learn more about it. I love it very much, I especially love the pinkwashing page, and you should check it out too! This page on my website that I call the "Critical Washing Rainbow," part of the /turing subsection of my website, is pretty much like DecolonizePalestine's rainbow washing page, but it's about AI instead of Israel. Its name comes from "Critical AI Literacy: Beyond hegemonic perspectives on sustainability" by Marcela Suarez Estrada, Barbara Müller, Olivia Guest, and Iris van Rooij, in which they talk about the term "critical washing": "When we critique AI, we should do so with intellectual honesty and in a principled way. Utmost care is needed to avoid ethics washing, greenwashing, and generally — what we dub — critical washing. Critical reflection cannot be reduced to a mere ‘check box’ before unleashing AI technologies in our daily life after all (as has been done in other areas such as vaping and combustion engines). Researching and reflecting on the harms of AI is not itself harm reduction. It may even contribute to rationalizing, normalizing, and enabling harm. Critical reflection without appropriate action is thus quintessentially critical washing.".
So, yeah! Go ahead and click on a color on this rainbow to learn more! And do check back time to time as there can be changes or even new content!! If you have some information about anything here that I should add, or there is a mistake, do tell me about it! This thing is basically a never-ending WIP lol
